Villach Hosts a Fresh Edition of the K3 Festival
The K3 Festival in Villach, a longstanding partner of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision, launched its projectors on December 4, 2024. The opening film, Family Therapy by director Sonja Prosenc, also premiered at this year’s Tribute to a Vision.
On Saturday, December 8, the festival featured the documentary A Tree Grows in My Dreams Every Night by Vid Hajnšek, presented as part of the traveling Soča-Isonzo Cinema project. A special highlight was placed on Slovenian short films, including two works from the School of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica: Sabotage by Neda Ivanović and Stay Here by Tenej Davidović.
Additionally, the short film programs showcased works by Slovenian filmmakers such as Davorin Marc, Lun Sevnik, Mitja Manček, Anne Elisabeth Tassel, Milanka Fabjančič, Kaja Rakušček, and Sara Bezovšek. Audiences also explored contemporary Italian cinema with shorts like Felicità Cannibale by Daniele Baldotto, featured in the First Crossings competition.
The K3 Festival continues to offer a vibrant experience of diverse cinematic cultures, serving as a true international crossroads. With a focus on the regions of Carinthia (southern Austria), Friuli Venezia Giulia (northern Italy), and Slovenia, the festival provides a unique insight into the filmmaking of these areas, fosters cinematic exchange, and exemplifies intense collaboration.
The festival’s core goals are to build bridges, transcend borders, and discover, mentor, and support emerging film talents. This year, we were honored to have the festival's artistic director, Piera Nodari, as an international jury member for our First Crossings section.
