Screening of the movie Rules of the Game

On Thursday, September 14, at 8:00 p.m., we invite you to the Gorizian House of Film - Palazzo del Cinema for a screening of the cult film The Rules of the Game (1939) by French director Jean Renoir, which, thanks to its excellent direction, is today considered one of the best films of all time. With this event, the organizers of the cross-border film festival Tribute to a Vision and the I Mille Occhi festival want to pay tribute to the actress Nora Gregor, whose journey from her native Gorizia took her to the very top of European cinema at the time. A few decades ago, Kinoatelje was the first to devote several years of research on her life and work. Various publications, a multimedia exhibition and a theater play were created. The introduction to the film will be provided by Sergio Grmek Germani, film critic, and director of the I Mille Occhi festival in Trieste.

Nora Gregor (1901-1949) from Gorizia appeared in two of the greatest masterpieces of two of the greatest film directors. Her excellent acting in the main role can be seen in the feature silent film Michael (1925) by director Carl Theodor Dreyer and in the film The Rules of the Game (La règle du jeu, 1939) by the great director Jean Renoir. During this period, she appeared in many other works before taking refuge in South America to escape Nazi persecution. In Chile, she played her last role in a film directed by the father of Olivier Assayas, one of the most prominent directors of today's French cinema.

The event is part of the European Capital of Culture program GO! 2025.
