October 8, 2024: Festival Opening with Young Audiences and Sonja Prosenc's New Film

The first day of the festival will begin at the Kulturni dom Nova Gorica, where at 9:00 AM, we willwatch films from the First Crossings section, which compete for the Young Audience Award. At 11:00 AM, the program will feature selections from the Istrian Film Commission and discussions with filmmakers, providing an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the emerging film scene in Croatian Istria.

The afternoon program will showcase the competition section First Crossings at 5:00 PM, featuring selected films from the international repertoire competing for the best short film award, chosen by an international jury. This will be followed by discussions with the directors and their teams. The official festival opening will take place at 7:30 PM with the Gorizia premiere of Family Therapy, the latest film by Sonja Prosenc, which will be screened with Slovenian and Italian subtitles. After the screening, there will be a discussion with the director and cinematographer Mitja Ličen. The social evening will continue at 10:00 PM at the Teater Club in Nova Gorica.

Parallel events will also take place at the Miela Theater in Trieste, where at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM, Cinema Volta by director Martin Turk will be presented, followed by a discussion with the author and part of the cast. From there, the film will embark on its distribution tour in Italian cinemas.
