Laughter as an Introduction to the New Cycle of Slovenian Cinema in Italy

The Goriška film landscape will again be enriched next year by a unique cycle that we have been faithfully weaving at Hiša filma for the past few years. With this cycle, Hiša filma will regularly come to life as a cinema, where Slovenian films, with the help of Italian subtitles, will also be accessible to the Italian audience. The rich program, focused on current and restored Slovenian film productions, will once again reach out to audiences on both sides of the border.

The screenings will provide profound insights into the diversity of genres and authorial expressions, while inviting guests such as creators and teams who contributed to the making of the selected works. The cycle, part of the official program of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, strengthens the tradition of deep cultural connections in the cross-border area.

The first film evening of this season will be on January 9 at 20:00, opening with the comedy This is a Robbery! The evening's Italian premiere will be further enriched by the presence of director Gregor Andolšek, who will reveal the background of this humorous and dynamic story to the audience.

Rajko, a professional magician, accidentally breaks his arm during a performance. But his troubles don’t end there – the Tangenta insurance company denies his claim due to a bureaucratic error. Indignant about the injustice, Rajko is supported by insurance agent Marcel, who arranges a meeting with the insurance company director. The situation escalates when Marcel, in a moment of despair, kidnaps the director, triggering a series of chaotic and funny events on their joint escape journey.
