Cadoul de crăciun / The Christmas Gift

Synopsis

In the 80s Romania, a normal evening of December is transformed into a nightmare when a child tells his parents that he sent a letter to Santa Claus. Who knows if Santa will bring presents or if the political police will do it.

Authors bio

Bogdan Mureşanu is a movie director. He started to work for cinema in 2007, when he wrote a screenplay that was turned into a short film by HBO. In 2018 he directed Cadoul de crăciun (The Christmas Gift) a short which has won numerous international awards. Later, this short, part of a bigger project, was implemented in his last movie, Anul now care n-a fost (The new year that never came) which as won as best film in the Orizzonti section at the 2024 Venice film festival.
