Due to her emotional connection to southern Italy, Cecilia Mangini’s exploration of the working conditions of workers in this region during the industrialization period led her to Brindisi, where she made two documentaries on the same topic: "Brindisi '65" and "Tommaso."
The MonteShell plants had recently been launched, and newspapers were already predicting a bright future for southern Italy. Young Tommaso, who races his moped around the petrochemical plant, dreams of getting a job and fulfilling his deep desire to buy a more powerful motorcycle. He strongly believed in change and the myth of progress, untroubled by his freedom, even as various concerns began to emerge among the voices of the workers.
