A deep look into the working and domestic conditions of women in northern and southern Italy. The film was commissioned by the Italian Women's Association during the electoral campaign of the Italian Communist Party. Cecilia Mangini was given complete freedom to address the topics she was interested in and embraced the opportunity enthusiastically. The film compares the images of women as portrayed by the cultural industry of the 1960s with the actual reality of most women, making a significant contribution to the complex subject of work, which she had already explored in the documentaries "Brindisi '65" and "Tommaso."
"Today, I think I instinctively identified with all of them: in Apulia, where I entered the film as an olive picker, and in the north, as a loom inspector." (Cecilia Mangini)
The screening is also supported by the Audiovisual Archive of the Labour and Democratic Movement ETS, which preserves the film and has restored and digitized it in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna.
